Reach of the Gemini app since 2025

From 400 million at I/O 2025 to 950 million a year later.

According to Google, the Gemini app grew from 400 million monthly active users at I/O 2025 to more than 900 million at I/O 2026, doubling within a year. On the Q2 2026 earnings call (July 2026), Alphabet reported 950 million monthly active users and a tripling of daily users over the year. Daily requests grew more than sevenfold over the same period, per I/O 2026.

To frame overall demand, Google cites tokens across all surfaces (not just the app): 9.7T/month (May 2024) → ~480T (I/O 2025) → over 3.2 quadrillion/month (May 2026). Model APIs processed about 22 billion tokens per minute in Q2 2026 (up from 16 billion the prior quarter), and over 9 million developers build with the models each month. These are model/developer metrics, not app user numbers, and are not merged with app reach here.

How widespread is the Gemini app in the U.S.?

Available, but without official usage figures.

The Gemini app is available in the U.S. via web and as an app (Android/iOS). Google does not publish country-specific user figures, however: reach is reported globally only (950 million monthly active users). A reliable statement about Gemini app usage specifically in the U.S. cannot currently be derived from this.

U.S. source situation

For the Gemini app there is neither an official U.S. user figure nor a large representative market measurement. Representative population studies (e.g. Pew) tend to track ChatGPT as the reference and do not report Gemini separately. This page will be extended once reliable U.S. data is available.
